Tania Walter

Tania was born in London and trained at Middlesex University and Loughborough College of Art and Design in the UK. With a background spanning fashion, textiles, and rug design, she eventually shifted her focus to painting. She was represented by the Parisian gallery Envie d’Art for almost a decade and now works primarily through private commissions and corporate projects. Notably, she was commissioned to create 160 bespoke artworks for Hotel Continental Oslo, demonstrating her ability to produce large-scale, site-specific pieces.

Her work is deeply inspired by urban landscapes, drawing on the street iconography of different cities and towns. She captures the essence of place through vintage shop facades, graffiti, typography, and iconic local shops and cafés. She also integrates found materials—scraps of paper, newspapers, and tickets from daily travels—into her work, creating an authentic sense of place while incorporating a feeling of age and distress to reflect the passage of time.

Tania’s process is highly layered, involving photography, pen and ink drawing, collage, and screen printing. As a member of East Side Brighton Print Studio, she also explores screen printing on fabric scarves as well as mono-printing, collage, and multimedia works to create dynamic, textural compositions. Additionally she is reigniting her passion for tufting, starting with smaller textile pieces and now developing designs for larger-scale works.

Alongside her artistic practice, using her eye and flair for colour, Tania offers colour consultancy based on Farrow & Ball colour theory, advising clients on palettes that complement and maximise interior spaces.
